It’s Here: The 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback

For over a decade, the will of Honda enthusiasts has been quite clear: American drivers wanted the Civic hatchback to be available in the U.S., and many even hoped for a TYPE R hot hatch. Yet, these wishes fell on deaf ears until 2015, when Honda announced it was combining its Civic line into one global product (the overseas model has always had different styling), and would be bringing both the hatch and TYPE R models to the U.S.

That was a year and a half ago. Now, the Civic hatchback is arriving on dealership lots, and we couldn’t be more excited. Leading with the eye-catching styling of the sedan, the Civic hatch boasts class-leading interior volume and gas mileage, and comes with two versions of the 1.5-liter turbo that is available in the sedan. These get 174 and 180 horsepower respectfully, for a drive that’s sporty and efficient.
