New Honda Clarity Fuel Cell, Electric and Plug-In Hybrid Midsize Sedan Offerings Coming to 2017 NYIAS

Each powertrain option's set to be, as a Honda March press release claims and an official teaser sketch explores, "wrapped in a sporty, spacious and comprehensively equipped five-passenger" format, and we at Matt Burne Honda can't wait to get a first look.

Therein, Honda showcases each Honda Clarity variant with a low, wide body, with unique "elegant and advanced" exterior styling elements coming together to suggest the automaker having a smooth ride and quiet aerodynamism in mind, seamless electric-drive torque, acceleration and handling experience surely to match. The "spacious" aspect is clearly evinced in Honda Clarity's environmentally-responsible, premium quality-material interior, and rounding out its comprehensive equipment, some serious advanced tech appears to have been built in, including Display Audio, Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay™ compatibility for smartphone integration, and Honda Sensing™ safety and driver-assistive features coming standard.

Autotrader.com's Brian Moody got a first look at the fuel cell iteration, according to a recent Autotrader video, and the vehicle research trove's expert reviewer had much the same take. He gave special callout for Honda Clarity's interior, bespeaking a leg up on the capacity of Chevrolet Bolt, Chevrolet Volt, and Nissan LEAF; interior textures and materials to lap Toyota Prius Prime; a quiet ride, with "plenty of power -- 174 horsepower to be exact" and precise braking and handling; "essentially zero emissions," and highly respectable range up to 366 miles – quite the accolade in advance of a release.

Honda calls Honda Clarity "the vanguard of [its] commitment to address energy and environmental concerns." The automaker's "intention [is] to make two-thirds of its global auto sales from electrified vehicles by 2030." Of further interesting developments forthcoming in the "green" driving area, the Honda evidence is there – the Honda Clarity fuel cell electric vehicle should soon become available in California, with battery electric vehicle and plug-in hybrid iterations offered to broader areas. We'll have to excitedly await 2017 NYIAS to see how Honda Clarity progresses. In the meantime, take the scenic trip from Kingston, Wilkes Barre or Clarks Summit to see us here at Matt Burne Honda, at 1110 Wyoming Ave. in Scranton, PA, to take a test drive in one of our diverse host of 2017 Honda Accord, Accord Hybrid, Civic, CR-V, Fit, HR-V, Odyssey, Pilot and Ridgeline vehicles.
